The socio-economic influence of Tswalu on the region is immeasurable. Apart from the obvious financial impact that Tswalu has through wages and operational spending in this impoverished area, Tswalu has provided opportunity for skills development and free health care to a community that has historically been deprived of access to these basics. The opportunity for employment and growth exists not only for the full time staff but also for the various development projects undertaken on the property from time to time.
In addition Tswalu has also sought to assist projects further afield. This year Tswalu donated a game viewing vehicle to a public game reserve in Kuruman. The donation is intended to assist in the development of a small business that will encourage tourism to the local reserve. Last year Tswalu assisted with the establishment of a communal Ostrich farm through the donation of both Ostriches and fencing material.
Tswalu has achieved Fair Trade in Tourism accreditation based largely on our socio-economic impact and environmental conservation projects.
